5 Whiskies to try this Burns Night

Let’s face it, for most of us, it’s been the driest January on record - and with 2021 dragging it’s heels, we are looking for any opportunity for a celebration.

So what better chance than this Monday, with Burn’s Night upon us and snow in the air. We have teamed up with Cambridge Wine Merchants to bring you five wonderful whiskies guaranteed help warm you through lockdown 227.0.


1. Spirit of Cambridge Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40% 70cl  NOW £34.19 (usually £37.99) 

Natural colour, single cask single malt from an Islay distillery whose name we cannot mention. Fiery, wild, heavily peated - packed with classic Islay flavours of sea spray, wet stones, peat smoke. 

2. Clan Fraser Reserve Blended Scotch Whisky 40% 70cl  NOW £18.99 (usually £19.99)

Clan Fraser Blended Scotch Whisky is a unique blend of the finest grain and malt whiskies from the heart of Scotland. Honey and buttery on the nose with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. There are notes of raisins and figs - and the finish is rounded, ever so slightly sweet and deliciously smooth.

3. Ardbeg 10yo Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46% 70cl  NOW £47.50 (usually £49.99)

A phenomenal whisky packing powerful peaty deliciousness, Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a favourite of many whisky lovers around the world. Produced on the Kildalton Coast of Islay, this single malt matures for a decade before being bottled without any chill-filtration. If you're after a whisky with full of coastal air, smoke and more, this is exactly what you want.

4. Glendronach Original 12yo Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 43% 70cl NOW £46.55 (usually £48.99)

The Glendronach 12 Year Old is allowed to age in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks from Spain - resulting in generous helpings of dried fruit and Christmas spice running through it. Bottled without chill-filtration or additional colouring, you can expect great stuff from this approachable single malt.

5. James Eadie 'Cask Finish'  Benriach 9yo 1st Fill Palo Cortado Single Malt Whisky 62.4% 70cl  NOW £66.50 (usually £69.99)

Independent bottlers James Eadie have finished this whisky for 12 months in a first fill Palo Cortado sherry hogshead. A rare sherry type and an even rarer wood in whisky maturation. Only 280 bottles were produced.
