Pimp My Fish: no ordinary Fish & Chip van

For this week’s Food For Thought, we wanted to take a tasty in-depth look at one of the local Cambridge area’s favourite mobile food vans – the aptly named Pimp My Fish.

Simply writing up this blog post left our mouths watering, so it is a delight to be able to highlight such masters of the craft. We have also provided some future dates on which you’ll be able to find the guys to sample their fabulous Fish & Chips for yourself. Now, we know what we’re ordering for takeaway tonight… 🐟🍟

Here’s what Pimp My Fish had to say...

“At PMF we love fish, we really do! We serve cod that is sourced responsibly from sustainable fish stocks which we cook until it’s succulent, tender and flaky and the batter is light and crunchy - and always to order. We serve twice cooked chips for an extra crunchy outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside… just like us. We make all of our own sauces and sides as well so don’t be shy folks!”

“Our homemade arancini and panko halloumi go down a storm with veggies and vegans, in fact with anyone that appreciates really delicious food. And for what can only be described as a ‘spiritual experience’ our battered brownie with Chantilly cream and raspberry coulis is pure enlightenment in every bite!”

And on their fantastic Curry Sauce...

Our Saturday night curry sauce has been cooked in the Hudgell household on Saturday nights for over 20 years and remains so up to the present day.  The secret recipe is currently held in a safety deposit box in the Cayman islands and guarded by descendants of the Knights Templar….okay small exaggeration but you get the gist - oh and it’s available on weekdays too!”

As Cambridge begins to tentatively open up once again, we really look forward to catching Pimp My Fish in & around Cambridge over the Summer and wish them all the best moving forward!
